July batch - pt 2:
Yes, I bought these separately from the previous batch - in fact I got these from a comic shop I rarely frequent - but known to have some hard to find issues with its inventory - and true enough, I was able to buy a few issues that were hard to find... specifically the Warlord of Mars issue 2 of Jeda Thoris.
The Captain Britain issue happens to be part of the Iron Age story line, so I was glad to get this too - and of course a few Fear Itself titles too... a bit noteworthy being the Secret Avengers issue spotlighting on the Black Widow - though I do wish we'd get back to the 'team' focus rather than just spotlights on one character... I mean, c'mon - there's a reason I prefer team books over individuals. One thing I decided to try out that isn't team oriented is the Spider Island story (in this case, the prelude) and I'll be trying this out as it comes off the presses. After all, it promises to have cameos from Spider-man's extended cast of supporting characters - that is, if you can call the FF and the Avengers a cast of supporting characters.
Lastly, Vampirella of course... after all, she's eye candy to any full blooded male comic collector. This issue promises a new arc. I just wished the art would get much better. Vampi needs a really great artist to do her 'super model pretty' character (as described in the previous arc), to be better appreciated.
If I've surprisingly kept mum about FF, its because this particular issue was - well... not the standard exceptional story as presented in the previous issues. This reads more like a break... an advertisement between the real story. Oh well... I hope this is as lousy as it gets - and by next time, things will once again pick up its incredible pace.
