This particular batch can best be described as the batch I got for lack of any other items to read. Its also the farewell issues of some titles - specifically the DC ones, seeing as by next month, all their titles (52 of them) will - by way of a consequence of Flashpoint, will be rebooted; with new number 1s for them all.
Why is DC doing this? Simple... they want new fans to have jumping in points. I mean, as a reader, I can recall one problem I had stopping me form jumping into DC before - and it was their long history that I found intimidating. This all changed when Crisis on Infinite Earths came out. So I understand, and even appreciate the gesture... but (and this is similar to crisis) why wipe out all the good stories or histories? Old readers may stick around - or they may opt to leave... depending on how much they like (or hate) what the DC universe is to become.
