Day 137, Aug 23, 2011

Our house (or Leaders' Window - day 2):

This activity is the last one (not counting the newspaper headlines which is normally scheduled at the start of day 2) that the participants of Leaders' Window will be creating as a team.

The idea is to give them around five minutes to plan how they'll do the house, then a minute of preparation time, and lastly, just a minute to build the house. Under most circumstances the first sound (they have two rounds) will end up with a haphazardly done house due to poor planning and inexperience in creating such a house.

The next step is to give them another 5 minutes of planning before round two - but even before that, we ask 'is this the best you can do?' - which brings in the element of 'how can we improve from our last work? What lessons can be derived from round one?... and most of the time, they come up with a better house model - as this group's house looks to be - despite its apparent size when you consider that this model is being done in under a minute. Amazing how even just a little experience can do to help make anything better. Hindsight is indeed better than being blind - and this is what we (in a manner of speaking) emphasize as par for this course.
