This picture was a welcome surprise... I naturally took pictures of people in the evening's Bacardi night - and since this extended to past midnight, this picture can honestly fit into the next day.
That said, this is a picture of the evening's Birthday celebrant... Naira... or Nai, for short. I took her photo as she was trying on Fiel's Chinese Jacket - and coincidence of coincidences, notice how the wall decor behind her seemed to look like a bun from her hair? When I first saw the picture, even I was fooled into thinking it was a bun, thus completing the Chinese matriarch look.
Nia found the picture funny - and so did others who saw it in Facebool - at least, those who know Naira quite well. Mon said it was a character shot... and I have to agree with this. Nai, will normally not be in this kind of shot - with those kind of clothes... so this can be considered a rare shot indeed.
The background, he clothing... even how Nai looks - and yes, that artificial bun on the background - all these add up to Naira's 'Mano Po' picture. Mano Po was (and maybe, still is... assuming another sequel is planned) a series of Chinese ancestral inspired Filipino movies - usually shown in a local film festival during December. So yeah... here's to our celebrator, and her Chinese-looking picture... Cheers Nai!
